(B Sir John Franklin Community Centre has recently joined together with River Heights and Crescentwood Community Centres to form the Central Corydon Community Centre, also known as C4. We welcome you to our a new chapter in our history with this new site, and look forward to your visit at any of the three sites we operate from.
What's new?New program: Little Signing Stars (1 and 2 year olds)[December 30, 2010] Little Signing Stars is a new program at at Sir John Franklin for young children aged 1 and 2. Contact Serena Yong We're back on Mondays starting later in November 2010[Nov 3, 2010] The Indoor Playground is a drop-in program that provides children with space to exercise their bodies as well as their imaginations, and to offer parents and caregivers an opportunity to meet. Activities and toys are varied from week-to-week and are available for children 0-10 years old. The Indoor Playground makes use of a two rooms in the Community centre. A playroom downstairs, which includes crafts, games, puzzles, dress up clothes, a kitchen area, building toys, a sandbox or water table, as well as many other small toys. A gym upstairs, which provides riding toys for a variety of ages, a play structure and a "Safety Zone" for toddlers. Please come and join us on Monday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. There is a drop-in fee of $2.00 per child per visit and $5.00 per family (children under 6 months are free with a sibling) Please feel free to contact the centre if you have any questions 489-9537. PROGRAM WILL BEGIN ON NOVEMBER 15, 2010 NEW PROGRAM: Mom & Tot Fitness Classes[December 2009] This 50-minute strength and muscle training class is great for the mom with an older baby as well as for those moms who have returned to work. The class focuses on toning and strengthening as well as core work to help you continue your postnatal fitness activity while your tot spends time nearby playing with the many toys! Ideal for moms with tots who are walking and enjoy some independent play, up to tots age 2.
Rock and Read restarts in the fall[June, 2010] Rock and Read is a great program we run here at Sir John Franklin, aimed at younger children and their caregivers. We will be starting again in the fall of 2010. Contact the office for details or telephone Angela at 489-7392. SJF Tiny Tots pre-school program Tuesdays & Thursdays[Dec. 2009] Families with very young children have a new program at Sir John Franklin Community Centre. The two hour morning sessions will run twice a week and are aimed at children aged 2 to 5 years old. The children will take part in two fun-filled hours of educational activities.
