(But if you are fast, you can read this…)

Sir John Franklin Community Centre has recently joined together with River Heights and Crescentwood Community Centres to form the Central Corydon Community Centre, also known as C4.

We welcome you to our a new chapter in our history with this new site, and look forward to your visit at any of the three sites we operate from.

Music nights were introduced in the 2006/2007 season, originally as 'Coffee House' evenings. Local bands and individual musicians congregate here at Sir John Franklin to jam and perform.

These occasional events have become very popular, mainly aimed at the youth residents of our area. The first event was held along with the annual winter carnival. This special event is the result of interest and effort from youth in our community.

We hope to see the continued growth of music nights. The organizers and Sir John Franklin's board managed to raise money to purchase a 'drum kit'. This allows musicians to set up and perform without the signficant trouble of transporting percussion instruments to our centre.

At Sir John Franklin we value an increased role of youth at the community centre and are excited to support the Teen Room and Music Nights.

Winter 2008 Carnival Weekend Music Night: The popular Music Night is back again this winter, featuring local young bands and musicians. Come and join us Friday February 1st 7 - 10 PM. Admission is still a very affordable twoonie ($2).

Our last one was Friday, Oct 19 at 7 - 10 pm with a great turnout of well over 100 young people. Don't miss these special events.

April 25th, 2008 is the next music night.

Anyone interested in performing call Greg at 489-3327 or e-mail at gsturko@shaw.ca.

Teen Space

[Jan 8, 2008] Sir John Franklin continues to work toward maintaining a games and activity room set up for teens in our community. Jamie Dumont on our board has committed to continue this work. Any volunteers, especially teens, interested in helping make this a reality should contact the centre. We will be very appreciative of all assistance.
