Recreation: pre-teen dances

Sir John Franklin Community Centre's revitalized pre-teen dance program is proving to be a hit, bringing children in grades 5 & 6 together for a chance to play, dance and socialize in a safe, supervised atmosphere.

Doors open at 7:00 PM and kids need to be picked up by a family member or family friend over the age of 18 by 9:30 PM.

The cost is $4 for admission. The canteen is open, with a wide range of snacks and sweets available for reasonable costs.

Five pre-teen dances have usually been held annually since 2005. We regularly have more than 100 and as many as many as 200 kids turning out each time, most being repeat participants. Come early because these are popular events and we reach our hall capacity nearly every time. Please note that we may require kids to prove their age, as we restrict it to children in grades 5 and 6 ONLY.

• Friday, March 20th, 2009 - TBA

If your parents are able to volunteer in some way, it is really appreciated. The volunteers are what make this all possible. Parents are welcome. Please call Susan Gilmore at 487-2950 if you would like to volunteer to come and supervise or help out in any way.
